An update on the update

There have been some differences this time around compared to the Heavy and Scout updates (the most recent). There has not been a whole page cover, with multiple links to each section of the update. Instead the generic url /sniperupdate has been taken up by the primary weapon only. It is confirmed to be the first section of the day yesterday, but without a specific number of days planned til release we can’t yet know when. Some news sites are saying that Valve itself has told them the whole “update will be available to download through Steam sometime later this week” and “will be going live over Steam in a few days”.

Maybe we should be expecting it earlier than previous examples would suggest, or maybe Valve Time will be a clearer indication of the actual release.

Valve also released an “emergency” blog update, quelling the anger amonst a couple of people that this new weapon could be a stun weapon. Riots were avoided on the steamforums.
