TFTrue 2.0

Some of you might remember TFTrue from months ago where it was used to remove critical hits in competitive play. The development stopped though when Valve introduced the tf_weapon_criticals cvar.

But lately there has been a lot of discussion about random damage (that one sticky can deal 170 damage and that it sometimes takes 1 grenade to kill a full health scout but other times it takes 3 grenades). This gave AnAkIn the idea of reviving TFTrue to make it possible to remove random damage.

After weeks of testing, this has resulted in TFTrue 2.0. When you disable random damage, the damage dealt will be the mid-value of the lowest random damage and the highest random damage ((low + high) / 2). It is important to notice that damage still varies over distance – a long-range rocket does less damage than a close-up rocket.

will ruin the game if a plugin has to be used for every/any pcw’s/matches

Umm.. no? Just look at cod4 scene, they’ve been using promod for ages and that has only made the game more enjoyable in competitive play. I’m not saying tftrue is the best etc. but im damn sure anything made by the competitive community itself will be better than valves crappy updates. Imo tuning down sticky damage to little lower than what it was before and lowering soldiers selfdamage back what it was wouldve been better than straight away solid numbers for damage, instead shouldve just kept random damage but within reasonable numbers for example no greater than 20-30 damage difference.

jonni: Also TFTrue 1 was used in ETF2L Season 1 and ESL, so why not begin to use it again. I’m not saying that I think it would be a good idea to use it, I’m just saying that it is definitely possible to have TFTrue as a server-requirement to play in a certain league.

nearly every esports game plays with a mod so why shouldn´t we?
