A new TF2 mode coming soon

According to Shacknews, Robin Walker (head director of Team Fortress 2) is teasing a new game mode coming to Team Fortress 2 very soon. (Even though Valve’s “coming soon” promises aren’t really kept)

A new Payload map is in the works, more community maps are on the way and the team will soon unveil a very different new game mode.

Robin Walker has also revealed that there may be a tenth class added to the game – but in months to come.

We’ve got several new class designs floating around, some of which we like a lot, but right now we’re focusing on the broadening of our existing classes through the addition of the unlockables.

The original source. I just hope they soon favour us competetive gamers abit instead of all these shitty pub updates :(. Guess thats naive.

Swap sticky damage and rocket damage and then we will see a better game!

Their idea behind developing payload game mode was to replace the VIP with a moving object because no one really enjoyed playing the helpless VIP (according to Valve at least). So I really doubt the game mode will be hunted. Perhaps something like cross the border from qwtf or maybe they’ll release official instagib 🙂

Something unoriginal that wont “change the way competitive players play tf2!”

shi says: 22 January 2009 - 0:23

Hopefully its the Hunted gamemode and the 10th class is the civilian/VIP ;D?

I’m really looking forward to a new class. Would love to see a new support class like the medic, being new and fun to play, just to help your teammates in different ways instead of doing loads of damage. 😀

Instagib railgun class :{{

Renegade26 says: 22 January 2009 - 14:11

But what support classes can you add that arent damage based, but dont deny enemies from being able to do what they normally do (which is frustrating: see airblast).

I’ev even forgot about Duke Nukem Forever -_-

Fean0r says: 24 January 2009 - 12:45

Yea it wont be VIP, they should add hunted for fun though 😛

Sorry for the double post – How about a “Defuse” style game type like CS but with TF2 classes?

That might be fun !

Renegade26 says: 25 January 2009 - 21:04

search and destroy for tf2! could be really simple to make, just for standard custom mappers probably, simply make a capture point or two, and force it to be retook in a certain amount of time or explosion.

Maybe something along the lines of: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/65574
