Community Lan – Signups open!

Today, the Community Lan officially opened their doors for the public to sign up – with a lot of appreciated help from ETF2L.

To register your team for The Community LAN event, please head over to ETF2L and follow these steps:

Go to http://ETF2L.org

Make sure you’re logged in.

Go to “Site Admin” in the top right corner of the screen.

Click “Teams” on the left side of the screen.

Click “Register Team“, the blue hyperlink above the table.

In the “Team Type” box, select “LAN Team [6v6]“

Register the rest of your team details as you usually would.

Once the team is fully registered, start adding your players by navigating to the “Teams” link on the left hand side then clicking “Edit Roster“

Add the appropriate players – make sure their STEAM IDs are correct as they will be checked.

Once all of the players are added, click the “Competitions” button on the left side.

Tick the box next to your LAN team to add to TCL Golden Tournament. Adding to this signs your team up to the whole event. Other tournaments will be opened later.

Proceed to the PAYMENT stage.

dunc (who is one of the people behind The Community Lan) wanted to give this additional statement to tell everybody where their money is going and what is happening with sponsorships:

I’m delighted that we’ve finally gotten round to opening up the signups! I would like to make a few things clear with regards to cost of the event and sponsors. We’re not keeping any of the entry ticket price for ourselves or even for future events. We’re having to pay WZZRD a fairly huge sum of money each day for hiring the venue. EVERY cent of the remaining ticket prices will go directly to the prize funds of our tournaments.

On an estimation of 96 players attending, we’re guaranteeing 1500 Euros prize fund but we’re genuinely confident that we’ll get more than that. On that subject – this very evening we’ve just sent out the “sponsor e-mail” to try and attract sponsors to The Community LAN. We’ll update the website and the IRC topic (#thecommunitylan) whenever we receive updates. I’d like to urge everyone to come together and do what they can to attend this event – it’s TF2 only so we really need the community to stick together and make it a worthwhile event.

Trademark Gamers will be there for sure and I’ve heard that some of Dignitas have gone so far as already booking their flights! I’ll be putting the mix team page up tomorrow for those of you that want to attend but can’t make it with their teams. Hopefully we’ll get a good few mixes out of that. Cheers gents!
