UKeSA: Min. 2 UK Players In Each Team

In the next season of UKeSA there will be several changes compared to the current one.

In a thread on cadred the following changes have been revealed:

  • Teams must be a registered UK company OR have at least two UK players playing in every match
  • Premiership divisions will have 8 teams instead of 7
  • Teams will have two wildcards to use for rescheduling purposes over the course of the season
  • Teams in the Open Divisions can (starting from Season 2) be promoted to Championship

As long as it says “OR” its just a plus. Shouldnt prevent any teams already playing.

Silan, I guess it’s not enough to have a uk manager anymore. You have to be registered in the UK as a company, like Dignitas for example, or have 2 uk citizens playing in your squad…

It’s gonna be tough to get alot of teams in now. But then again I’d say the other games will have the same problems.

this will shrink the ukesa a lot.. but more uk teams will definitely get cash so they will reach there goal 😉

Makes sense! and Season 2 will be a huge improvement for championship and open.

I don’t think esports is popular enough to have that kind of inbred, closed competitions for just one country. At least it makes it that much less interesting to follow two mediocre teams fighting for the biggest money prizes instead of the best. Good thing there’s still the option left to be in a British org. Which means most top TF2 teams won’t have a problem with this rule.

Interesting, too bad about a number of sub-top teams that are unable to participate in the future.
